Come Home is an ideal escape for couples, or for single travellers (it sleeps two), who want to explore the local area, or just relax and curl up by the fire with a glass of something and a good book or a film. It’s a minutes’ walk from Haworth’s Main Street, with its quirky little bars and restaurants. It’s also a stone’s throw from the Brontë Parsonage Museum if you’d like to step into the room where Jane Eyre was written, and those breath-taking moors are within walking distance as well.
More About Come Home Cottage
Haworth is one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets, with unique little gift shops, lovely cafes and pubs, and a massive sense of history. If you come and stay for a little longer, it’s also an excellent base for getting to Hebden Bridge and Skipton, and a day out on the steam railway from Haworth station is always a memorable experience! Nearby Oakworth station is where the Railway Children was filmed, and it’s easy to take the train there and have a slow ramble back! Parking is in the street, using our permit.
The Space
Come Home has four floors. The first-floor living room has a large stone fireplace with a wood burner, original stone-flagged floors, and wood-beamed ceilings. There are two very comfortable sofas, complete with snuggle blankets for total rest and relaxation. There is a TV, but also a well-stocked bookcase, and the room has a large window if you’d just like to watch the world go by on West Lane. If you haven’t heard horses’ hooves on cobbles, listen out!
The Kitchen
The large basement kitchen has full cooking facilities, a huge sofa, and a small wall-mounted TV. The original cooking range is still there, and still has to be regularly ‘blacked!’ Originally, Come Home Cottage would have belonged to two separate families, one of whom would have had this kitchen as their entire living space (the richer family had all of the upstairs rooms.)
The First Floor
On the first floor there is a double bedroom, and a nice, spacious bathroom with both a shower and a bath.
The Top Floor
The top floor is a tiny attic room, which directly under the old stone slates of the roof, and because it can be a bit chilly up there, we only tend to use it for family and only when we have a full house.
Sorry, we love dogs, but the house isn’t suitable for them. Our other cottage ‘Fall in Green’, is just two minutes away, and dogs are very welcome.
